– Scottsdale Dining – Toro Latin Restaurant & Rum Bar at the Scottsdale Princess Resort –

The space itself is elegant, but not formal, and most of the restaurant is glass walls overlooking the gorgeous 18th green of TPC Scottsdale and the valley beyond. Plus, there is ample patio seating for diners to enjoy Scottsdale’s wonderful climate.
We were there for dinner and got there just prior to the sunset. We watched the last golfers of the day wrap up on 18 as the sun went down.

We decided to try a lot of smaller dishes to sample the menu. We started with the Crispy Calamari with a ginger sauce and chipotle mayo. The calamari were some of the best I have had in recent memory. They were perfectly seasoned and light and the sauces were great.
We also picked a few items from the Suviche Bar and were glad we did. We had the Tuna Tiradito, which was a tuna ceviche in a citrusy ponzu sauce with cilantro and avocado. It was fresh and bright from all of the citrus. We also had the Angry Tuna Roll, a dressed-up version of a spicy tuna roll and the Crunchy Shrimp Roll. Both were excellent.

The final dish we ordered was the Parmesan Crusted Sea Scallops in lemon butter. I did not get a chance to try them, but the presentation was beautiful and our dining companion very much enjoyed them.
Besides the food, Toro is also a rum bar, with over 100 rums to choose from. They have a long list of rum drinks as well as tasting options. And, if rum is not your drink of choice, they have a full bar and well-rounded wine list as well as non-alcoholic options.
