Terravita is a wonderful community in North Scottsdale, just south of Carefree’s stunning Black Mountain.
Covering 823 acres, there are twenty-three neighborhoods dotted throughout Terravita. There are smaller “lock and leave” home models that come in around 1,400 square feet as well as intermediate and larger home sizes up to around 3,800 square feet.
Terravita has many socializing options including the expansive clubhouse that is home to a fitness center and pool as well as dining and many activities. Tennis and exercise trails are also available to residents.
The 18-hole Terravita golf course was designed by Billy Casper and Greg Nash and delights players year-round.

Terravita means “land” and “life” in Latin and residents find both in this North Scottsdale community. Beyond the gates of Terravita are 23 distinct neighborhoods planned masterfully on 823 acres.
Since 1998, residents of this exclusive golfing community have enjoyed waking to the views of Black Mountain and the Boulders in a serene desert setting. Natural plant life including cacti and flowers that don’t succumb to drought are abundant. With a gated entrance, Terravita is a community that exudes privacy yet fosters a sense of old-fashioned togetherness among its many residents.
Within the 23 neighborhoods lie homes for any taste. Smaller families and retirees choose from homes as cozy as 1,400 square feet with large bedrooms and spacious kitchens. Larger homes have casitas for in-laws or other relatives. With many homes as large as 3,800 square feet, families find plenty of room to grow and play.
Homeownership in Terravita comes with a membership to the Terravita Country Club, with its fitness center, tennis and swimming offerings. Golfers have the option to join the Terravita Golf Club as well. Social activities are centered around the 34,000 square foot clubhouse. More than just a place for folks to relax, the clubhouse has options for dining that include a casual grill and fine dining. Private parties can be held in the dining room with delectable cuisine served by the club’s expert chefs.
Walking trails provide a scenic setting to exercise and meditate. Shopping, cultural activities and restaurants are just a short drive away and the Phoenix airport is less than an hour away.

THE TERRAVITA GOLF CLUB
Designed by Billy Casper and Greg Nash, the Terravita Golf Course was named the #1 Golf Club by Arizona Business Magazine. Highly regarded by the PGA, the Volvo Legends Golf Tournament featuring LPGA celebrities, the US Open Qualifier and several regional championships have been held here.
As of May 2018, the clubhouse underwent a $5.2 million remodel with great results.
Terravita is one of the few clubs that allow members to own their golf carts and pay an annual “trail fee.” A golf shop is located in the clubhouse and allows golfers access to the latest and best equipment for their game. The Terravita Golf Club is managed by Troon, allowing members competitive rates at other Troon golf courses.
The par 72 course has been rated in the top 25 of Arizona golf courses by The Arizona Republic. PGA pros are available for newcomers and seasoned players alike.
Terravita Golf Club Information as of May 2024
- Terravita Golf Club golf memberships are optional for residents and there are a few non-resident memberships available. The Full Golf Membership costs $60,000 for residents and $70,000 for non-residents. Fees range from $844 for single memberships to $1,042 per month for couples. There is also a monthly Capital Fund Fee of $172 for individuals and $238 for couples.
- Membership to the Terravita Country Club (TCC) comes with homeownership in Terravita and is mandatory. This membership grants access to the Country Club, clubhouse dining, tennis, pickleball, pools, fitness center and more. Currently, monthly dues are $305 ($221 for dues, $36 for Capital Improvement and $48 for Capital Reserve.) This membership is separate from the Golf Membership. Any golf payments and dues are in addition to the Terravita Country Club dues.
