– Drexyl Modern American Food in Scottsdale AZ-
In the Shops at Gainey Village, just across the way from The Hash Kitchen, you will find Drexyl. Drexyl focuses on American cuisine with inspiration from other parts of the globe. We were there a couple of weeks ago for the first time and really enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere.
We were greeted warmly upon entering and given a choice of seating – booth, table or patio. Our server was very friendly and was excited to talk about the different lunch options and specials.
We are big fans of the soft pretzel trend we see around, so we had to order the Soft Pretzel Sticks. These are some of the best we have had. They were hot with the perfect amount of salt and chewiness and were served with two dipping sauces, a beer mustard sauce and a poblano cheese dip. I plan to order these on all future visits.
For our entrees, we tried three different offerings. The first was the Chicken Marsala special. It was served over polenta, spinach and had a bit of a sweet potato puree. It was delicious and satisfying without being too heavy.
The second entree was a Brussel and Beet Salad that we topped with salmon. (You can opt to add chicken, shrimp, salmon or filet to any of the salads.) Added to the sprouts and beets were dried fruit, candied pecans, parmesan and greens. This too was wonderful.
The final entree was the Seared Salmon Salad, which is a play on a warm German potato salad. It came with a layer of warm sliced baby red potatoes on the bottom that was then topped with greens, tomatoes and a warm bacon vinaigrette. This is one of their most popular lunch items and it is easy to understand why.
Overall, we had an excellent lunch coupled with excellent service. I look forward to returning soon to try some of their other offerings.
